Spring/Summer lips with YSL

Summer is almost here, so it’s time to switch out your beauty routine! I posted a beauty post (here) a couple of weeks ago about the makeup trends for Spring/Summer 17 and said I would share with you my new colours for this season and what I’ll be wearing on my lips, so here it is, my summer colours for my lips and my new YSL purchases.

There’s no makeup product more loved than the lipstick, right?! A little touch of lipstick is a great way to make a beauty statement and well guys, a new season brings new trends (and a good excuse to buy more lipsticks!).

For summer I like to keep my face makeup to a minimum for a “no make-up” fresh look with a pop of colour for statement lips, and what better way to do that than these bright colours from YSL I picked up.

From pink pigments to red and orange textures, this summers lips are all about having fun and the brighter the better! I am obsessed with the pink and orange tones as these shades are perfect and work well for my skin tone. I’ve tried so many different brands but I think my favourite by far for this season is the YSL 52 Rouge Per Couture in Rosy Coral (here). This has been my favourite for years and is YSL’s most sought after colour as it suits every skin tone, not to mention it is a bad ass pink to brighten those lips up! YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine number 41 (here) is another of my favourite for this spring. It’s a gorgeous soft pink which looks beautiful on and is extremely flattering. I also picked up YSL Rouge Volupte number 45 (here) which is a red colour but with a slight orange undertone which I shall be taking with me on our city break and for me this beats any red out there. I am super pleased with my new purchases as I found the colours had long lasting wear on my lips (which is what you want) whilst leaving a little shine and gloss to those lips.

Quick Lip Tricks

Trick 1

When in doubt go super pigmented, this helps to give your lips a lot more definition

Trick 2

I always put a dab of concealer on my lips prior to application, this helps to ensure the colour sticks and stays

Trick 3

Always line your lips with a lip liner prior to adding the lipstick. I always use MAC nude lip liner and then fill my lips with this prior to adding lipstick.

Trick 4

Turn any lip colour into a shimmery new shade. Simply use a sheer golden gloss over lipstick-it instantly warms up every colour.

Trick 5

Hate those little marks and creases in between your lips? Blot with lint-free blotting paper rather than tissue for a more natural, long-lasting look.

YSL lipsticks have proven to be the best I have tried so far (dare I say it even beats my TOM FORD lipstick?!) and these pops of colours are my summer go to essentials! Start adding these to your holiday list now and let me know what summer lipsticks you will be trying in the comments as I’m feeling risky I may just give them a go!
