When I go away I like to do my research way in advance if I can, but I come to Italy every year to see all the famiglia so I kinda knew I wanted to wear something red with layered ruffles (think Latino vibes). I have been a midi dress fan for so long but I wanted to try out the maxi length. Now I’m 5″6 which isn’t tall and the myth that you have to be super tall to wear a maxi dress is staying put as just a myth! Maxi dresses or skirts silhouettes are super chic and are now considered for most people as a wardrobe staple. I purchased the Michelle Maxi dress from FreePeople (here) and wore it during my southern Italy road trip.
It was super light and breezy when wearing it and I like how you can either wear it with straps or strapless. I chose to wear it with straps as my chest is a little too skinny and it kinda takes the light off of that! For me summer is all about the romantic ruffles and colour and this dress was just that! It has a super cute subtle cut out detail on the chest which gives it a little sex appeal seen as it’s so covered up.
I kept everything to a minimal to keep the focus on this dress so teamed it with my trusted red toe-ring sandals ( here and in black here) and my new Cult Gaia Lilieth Bag via Net-A-Porter (here) which is coming this week on the blog to finish the look off. Polka dots are still trending into AW18 so I’m looking to still wear this dress in the fall but team it with a chic oversized jumper, making this one of my most versatile dress yet!
